The 808 TD BTN Go Into Battle

Location of Dieulouard FranceThe 808th Tank Destroyer Battalion landed at Utah Beach on the coast of France on 19 September 1944. A few short days later, on 25 September, 1944, they had marched through war torn France to join the 80th infantry at Dieulouard and officially engaged the war effort in battle. The 808 did not see another day without battle until VE Day 9 months later. It is unclear if the 808th met resistance on their way to Dieulouard, the after action reports are unclear in that respect. (You can click on the map to see a larger, close  up version showing many of the nearby towns.)
