We had a great time in Lafayette and Scott La. Dana, Patti and Gayle were great hosts. We stayed the Scott Holiday Inn. They were very accommodating. Helping to make sure everyone was in a room to suit their individual needs. Kudos to the staff.
We visited the Jean Lafitte Museum and Cultural Center and learned about the displacement of the Acadians from Nova Scotia. Then had lunch at Vermilionville, a recreated Acadian village of the 1700s.
Another day, we went to Abbeyville to see the Louisiana Military Hall of Fame and Museum.
We ate at many restaurants featuring Cajun foods, delicious, every
one of them. At one luncheon, a gentleman who was at the restaurant when
we arrived, paid for everyone's lunch in appreciation of the vets of the
808th tank destroyers and all vets.
He is a great man in his own right
and we all thank him, obviously for lunch, but also for his feelings for
our military and this country.
The mayor of Scott came to visit with us and presented everyone with their own key to the city.
Hopefully photos to will be available to share with everyone very soon.
