Gardengranny, one of the active members within the 808th.com community sent me notice of Dan Boudreauxs' death. He passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Southpark Rehabilitation Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Born on June 8, 1915 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
He enlisted in the United States Army shortly after Pearl Harbor. His U.S. Army enlistment led to a European tour of duty during World War II. He was a tank commander and battalion cartographer with the 808th Tank Destroyer Battalion, under General George C. Patton.
Sir,
I am a Platoon Leader in A Company, 1st Squadron 71st Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Drum, NY. We just returned from a combat tour in Baghdad and are glad to be home. None of us could have imagined what combat was like for you all, but we feel like brothers to those of that fought in the 701st TD Battalion in WWII, and 701st Armored Infantry Battalion in Korea as we are now part of their history.
Unfortunately I am trying to get information such as unit awards and other information about the battalion by contacting veterans but have not had any luck finding any contact information. Do you know where I can find veteran contact information or get any additional unit information? Thanks again for your help, and your service, I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear 808th TD Bn Family,
We enjoyed your impressive website. We are writing to ask for information about our uncle, Thomas McKenna from Columbus, Ohio. We know he was in a tank destroyer battalion that fought in Patton's 3rd Army. He died of lung cancer at the age of 50 in 1960. Our family has a few photos of him with a number of his comrades in Europe - probably winter of '44. One is in a wooded area in front of make shift shelter made of fallen pine trees. The other shows a small group of men in white snow parkas and GI trousers. Also, we have a picture of him in a 1959 group photo that is marked - 808th TD Battalion Reunion. I'm sorry, but we don't have any names of those in the photos or any other info. We can try to digitize the photos and send them for your web site, if you like. Appreciate any information you can provide about our uncle.

My great uncle, Sgt Gordon B. Cox served with the 808 at Ft.McCoy. He lost his life on July 23, 1944 after a fire broke out in the barracks. There are conflicting stories within my family, and I would really like to put this to rest. Does anyone know if this sounds familiar? Maybe you know of someone that served during this time? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there,
My grandfather was a medic in the 808th. I have transcribed his Army Card and wonder if you can explain any of it - I know little of military terminology and nothing of where he was or what he would have been involved in... I'm not sure what regiment/company/etc he would have been in, etc... I do have a number of pictures of him and a few letters home as well...

I am the daughter of James Daniel, 808th Tank Destroyer Division Headquarters Company. I was raised on stories of Daddy's Army service. He passed away January 2, 1999. I was so happy to find this site honoring this unit. Daddy left many pictures, letters, and keepsakes that my family and I would like to share.

I'm looking for information on my grandfather, Harold W. Sassaman.
He served in a Tank Destroyer unit sometime during WWII. I am unsure of his
unit, but I don't believe that he went into combat. I'm not completetly
sure about the later. Any one who can direct me to any references or roll
call lists would be greatly appreciated.
