I am the nephew of SSG Eugene "Jinks" De Maertelaere, and will soon submit a photo of him in uniform. He earned the BS during the War and was the inspiration for my service to this country for over thirty years. He died of a heart attack in Arnold, Mo in 1959. He is burried in the Jefferson Barracks Mo, Nat'l Cem. Any who remembers him, I would appreciate their sharing the experience of serving with him.

His address is 15 Boulder Brook Road

Came across your website while looking into family history research. My
grandfather, George Behan, served with the 808th Medical Detachement during
WWII. Just wondering if you had any more information that might be of
interest...
Thanks,
Dave Holmen

My Dad and I were just wondering when any pictures might be on the web site of the reunion. He is sorry he missed this one, maybe next year.
Also in the guestbook of the 808TDB website Chase Boggs was seeking info on his grandfather James Boggs. My Dad knew him very well but there is no E-mail address for Chase. Should we just make a post in the guestbook with a E-mail address and see if Chase responds?
Thanks for all your help,
Doug Rogers

The individual photo is of my father Gilbert Schaefer, taken in Texas. I
believe my father was in C Company of the 808th. The picture with two men
on is my father Gilbert with his buddy Ed Kaminski taken at the end of May,
1945 in Austria. The picture with my father and his jeep #3 also has Lt.
McDonald on it and was also taken in Austria.
I'm afraid we will not be able to attend the reunion this year but tell
everyone Hi from Gilbert. He is doing quite well but suffers from
congestive heart failure which limits his energy and also from macular
degeneration which has limited his ability to read, & drive.
Hope everyone has a very good time at the reunion!!

First, may I introduce me:
I am a ww2researcher in Upper Austria /Germany and looking for photos.
My question: Do you know if there are any photos from Neuhaus (on the river
Inn).
Neuhaus is located 10 miles west of Passau . From Neuhaus (Germany) the 808th
shooted against Schärding (Austria) on 2nd and 3rd of May 1945 across the river
Inn.
VERY IMPORTANT: Do you know where I can give a searching inserat at a special magazin, or mayby the 808 tank destroyer battalion do have a own magazin.
Do you know, is for the 60th anniversary a special magazin coming from your battalion? May I could give there a inserat ?
Thank you very much for your help and information. Most respectful. Mag. Anna

Hello my name is Pete Minix, age 52, former Sgt, in the Marines and the Army National Guard. Over the last several years, I have been very fortunate to have interviewed, either by mail or in-person, over 130 WW II Veterans. I am not into making money on this and no information will be published or sold. This is strictly a hobby and a "labor of love" as I have always been interested in World War II for many years and it is just my way of keeping their memories and stories alive For every World War 2 veteran we loose a piece of history is gone. I would be very grateful to hear from any World War 2 veterans or any family members of. My E-mail is pdmmm@msn.com. If you are interested.
I look forward to hearing from you.
My name is Chase Boggs and I am wondering if you could help me find any info on my grandfather His name is James Earl Boggs he was in the 808 3rd army but that is all I know.
Chase Boggs
Was curious to see what you had.
My father was Tech Sgt. Clinton F. McMaster Sr. with Patton's own 808th.
Respectfully,
Staff Sgt. Clinton F. McMaster Jr.
My grandfather was Pervis Suire. He has past on, but I have some pictures from his service days, as well as a video interview of him on specifics of his time liberating those concentration camps. I would love to share these with the site. Please contact me.
Regards,
Russell P. Suire
My father (Gilbert Schaefer) and I thoroughly enjoyed the 2004 reunion and would like to thank all those who were responsible for it. We are anxiously looking forward to the 2005 reunion. If anyone has information as to the location and dates for this years reunion we would appreciate hearing from you.

To all those who have served in the Tank Destroyers..... I am presently a 1SG of a Headquarters Troop of the 2nd Squadron 71st Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Drum, NY. I am seeking a contact name, number or email for any veteran of the 701st TD BN. Our unit is drawing the lineage and history of that BN and myself and others would like those fine warriors of the past to know that we are here. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Very Much.
