Maginot Line

A concrete tank barrier with gun platforms built for France's defenses during WWI.

Though design and construction began during WWI, it was never finished.

The Ardennes Forest was considered to be impassable so the line did not include that area through the forest. It also did not include any land between France and Belgium.

The thought was to stop tanks from invading. During WWII, France learned it did not work as Germany was able to invade from the north.

The 808th pushed the Germans back into Germany by way of the line and they followed securing the Saar Basin, important to industrial fulfillment.
