Letter written to Els dad the day after Headquarters Company of the 808th witnessed the horrors at the Concentration Camp at Gotha, otherwise referred to as Ohrdruf.
When looking at Google earth, Gotha and Ohrdruf seem so very far apart but when I searched for Ohrdruf, Germany I was offered only Ohrdruf, Gotha, Thuringia, Germany. I am left with only the belief my research has not been confused, that the Concentration Camp at Ohrdruf and the Concentration Camp at Gotha are one in the same.
Els is graphic in his description without being grotesque. The horrors the entire 808th witnessed made them all very aware of why we were fighting.
